For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn't prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.

As a fan of the first book, I had high expectations for this one. I think this book was decent, not as good as the first one. I don't think it was suffering the "middle book" syndrome, but I felt like this book lacked something. I can't name it,  but there was definitely something missing.

Clara is stuck between Christian and Tucker. *Sigh* We have a love triangle among us. I don't like love triangles. Especially ones where you like both of the love interests. I love Tucker. Hands down, my all time favourite book boyfriend. But I think I'm starting to warm up to Christian. I didn't like him at all in the first book when he ditched Clara at the dance so that he could escort his ex home. That was a bad move, but that's okay, because that's when Tucker saved the day and swept her off her feet. In this book, you get more of Christian. There's so much more depth to him and you begin to question "who do you think is perfect for Clara?" For now, I don't know whose team I'm rooting on.

I can't wait for the final book. I'm desperate to see who she will choose. Hopefully it will be Tucker. *Fingers crossed*
